#TrayvonMartinRIP #Zimmerman #Mao #RodneyKing #LosAngeles #Reparations #Ebonics

I'm furious but not terribly surprised at the verdict aqauitting pseudo or crypto white man and cop wannabe George Zimerman  in the case of his killing with a gun the unarmed Black High School boy Trayvon Martin.

The cold fact is the lives of Black people are held cheap in these United States.

I think I know what's at the bottom of all this. For a simple analogy take a case where John owes Paul more money than he ever can repay. When he sees Paul coming down the street he ducks, He resents Paul and he is in his heart of hearts both guilty and deathly afraid of Paul. I am talking about centuries of slavery followed by legally enforced oppression, followed by benhing neglect and the I wasn't there when all that stuff happened song.

The fact that a very big part of the African American community is outside the network loops when it comes to jobs and places to live in, and that other non white people get counted along with the descendants of slaves to whom our society has an unpaid debt when it's time to show how unracist we are. It's not skin color so much at all. It's this damned moral ethical debt.

And I have to go back to a subject that will bring on the jeers and laughs, sneers and  and ridicule. It's the fact that a large part of the African American community do not speak the same language at home as do the majority of others and the educational system does not allow for this fact. Many years ago in Oakland, California some educators backed by linguistics experts tried to engage the subject of Ebonics and the role it plays.

It is recognized that kids form non English speaking households need special help and attention in school in order to catch up with their English as a first language peers.  Never getting this remediation is bad enough but the kids often get told that they speak bad, or lazy or ignorant or incorrect English and that they will never amount to anything.

Oh and there is this forty acres and a mule. It's that, plus interest and penalties that's owed. No wonder "we" want "them" to shut up or vanish.

Mao once said that it's right to rebel. I agree in principle but here comes the but. You see I remember the riots long ago and what happened afterwards. Shops shuttered for decades, neighborhoods turned from ghetto to desert.

In Los Angeles, where the people wee right to rebel the African American population shrank drastically. "

Surveying local residents in 2010, 77% percent of residents feel the economic situation in Los Angeles has significantly worsened.[100] A population change occurred from 1992-2007; the black population dropped by 123,000 after the riots..."

Yes, something has to be done, anger must be expressed and there must be a seeking of justice for Trayvon. I don't have all the answers and I hope someone does soon.
