Why I call #Hailo a cult. @davidyassky #publicsafety $nyc

I'd say a cult is a group of people organized around an irrational narrative that cannot be questioned. Also a cult relates to society at large on its own terms. The false narrative is "you cannot find an available taxi in New York " when in fact there is a plethora of taxis and other for hire chauffeured vehicles around.

Additionally the narrative holds that an individual can surmount this non problem by using a smartphone app. In fact there some circumstances when one needs be patient and use a few brain cells to get a cab (it is wise to fish upstream for instance.).

On the driver side the official myth holds that passengers will turn to this app at times when the streets are overrun with empty taxis. This would hardly be the case.

Drivers are cultified on a deeper level that poses a public safety threat. They are required to violate safety codes regarding distracted drivimg and lie about it in hopes of gaining "recognition" that comes in the form of points and bronze, silver and gold status granted by "the team."

The cult leaders intend to dominate the taxi industry by parasitically inserting themselves between taxi owners and drivers amd also between the driver and the customer.

The have convinced the PTB that they are on a noble mission. They must be stopped.
