The sad event demonstrates that all the police work in the world will not stop people determined to weak havoc. All the bomb sniffing dogs were thwarted. It reminds me of the infamous Times Square bomber. He had supposedly traveled tpo Pakistan or Afghanistan to learn how to construct a bomb that could fizzle but not bang and was also thwarted by a street vendor, not by any of the ever present cops of the arwa whose main tasks seem to be obstruction of vehicular traffic, posing for tourist photographs and collecting telephone numbers from cute young women.
It might make us safer if our country would stop bombing and threatening other countries and if we the people understood that cops aren't good for much when it comes to crime prevention and in that regard people individually and collectively are on our own.
