The Squeaky Wheel Gets The Grease, Left Right and Center - Guns, Gardens and Air Traffic Controllers vs. PCB poisons in the schools.

And so, some gigantic majority percentage of the American public wants some new controls over who can get firearms and what sort of firearms those ought to be and President Obama proposed the most modest incremental changes in gun regulations and pushed them hard but got nowhere with it, because there is a highly organized and very vocal group that opposes any regulations over guns that might limit in the least access to white rural and suburban residents. They cite their Second Amendment rights to "bear arms" and they are correct in the sense that the Second Amendment was meant to allow white slave catcher slave revolt suppression squads to be called "well regulated militias" to function free of any possible interference from anti slavery forces within the United States Congress. Today urban areas like New York City have tight application rules for application for any gun license that amount to a virtual prohibition for anyone not wealthy and a property owner and all over the country (probably all over the world too) people with criminal records and people who like me reside in public housing  in many jurisdictions including New York (called "social housing" in most countries) that effectively most minority group members and working poor cannot legally get guns - just like our Founding Fathers wanted! And ironically those who cannot realistically hope to obtain legal firearms have the greatest moral claim to the need for means of self defense.

Then we move on to the recent exception made to the supposedly need blind across the board budget sequester that was orchestrated by the Republicans and Democrats to escape responsibility for the specific effects of their austerity plans. It turns out that the numbers of air traffic controllers was reduced with work hours slashed and revolving furloughs. Apparently this made for inconveniences the class of people we can call "frequent fliers"- people whose children are not being thrown out of pre school learning programs and people who are not seeing their unemployment benefits blindly cut. Well, it did not take long after the first air traffic controller got sent home for Congress and the President to make this exception for the need blind sequester budget cuts - people who regularly use air transportation should not be bothered by such things. Such travails are meant for children of the poor and people who cannot find jobs.

Now in New York City we are in the early stages of choosing a successor to the emperor Michael Bloomberg. We are also jockeying to get issues onto the agenda and imprinted into the minds of the voting public. et me say now that I love Community Gardens though I've never been in one and never thought much about them. I've always taken as a given that they are good things and should not just be left alone by the real estate grabbers, but should be expanded at every possible opportunity. I don't know the people who make up the New York City Public Garden Coalition. I'm sure they're nice and good people and I have no beef against them. I only wish that there was a group so well organized as they are to advocate for the health of children, teachers and staff at our public schools who are exposed to PCBs that they could call a public meeting and candidates for the office of mayor would feel the need to go to them and get their backing. As it is the Coalition has been doing its job of pushing the issue of public gardens into the political discourse and their issue is held dear by progressives, most of whom probably are not aware of the problem of PCBs in the schools. (I say that because I believe that were they aware, they'd be raising all sort of holy hell about it and they aren't.)

Well, I am an old man who walks with a cane and works six nights a week driving a taxi to take care of my obligations and I have most limited resources. I took it upon myself to declare that I am a candidate for mayor in order to inject issues like this one into the debate. How do I do it? Well, I have this blog that has a weird and funny name - "Please don't vomit in the taxi" and I promote it as I am able. I've had almost 26,000 page views so far from all over the world since last November and I am contemplating ways to get the word out further. Radio station WBAI is kind enough to follow my tweets and even kinder to have retweeted a message of mine regarding PCBs in the schools.

Anyhow I hope people will be curious enough to look att the issues I raise- abolition of the NYPD,  issues of PCBs in school and so called "child protection", the matter of New York City seeking its share of the 31 trillion dollars now hidden from the tax man in plain sight by the world's oligarchy, the stock transfer tax that exists right now, that Albany refunds as soon as it collects it.

Vote For Eugene Weixel Independent Candidate For Mayor of New York City

I Promise if elected

I will not live in Gracie Mansion, but will continue living in the General Grant Houses. Gracie Mansion will be given over to community organizations that serve the poor and that raise awareness among the 99 percent.

We will demand our share of the stock purchase tax that Albany collects and then returns to Wall Street. Our share is eight billion per year.

As a candidate and as mayor I promise not to visit Israel or the occupied territories. I will not kiss the wailing wall or anything else to get elected and to serve without a media blitz against me.

Foster care will be reduced by 90 percent. Child protection will be given over to empowered communities, churches, mosques, temples, tenant organizations, families. Every abused or neglected child's parents will be given real and effective help- that of the family, friends, neighbors, teachers, who care about the child.

Child Protective Services, being a gigantic drain on the budget and feeding the foster-prison pipeline will be done away with. There are at times children are in danger. Communities will be empowered to take such children into their care and allow the intense situation to cool out. No more stupid decisions about children made by detached social workers and cops.

Drop in centers that will be well run will welcome children and families who need a rest from stress. NO person in New York City will suffer from involuntary hunger.

The NYPD as we know it will be gone. Communities know what is best for themselves. Very often "gangs" are simply organizations of youths who give themselves and each other safety and economic opportunities. Many "gang" members in fact want to serve their communities. Efforts like those of Minister Farrakhan and Reverend Sharpton are going to be welcomed and encouraged.

Self defense is a natural God given right. Individuals and communities have the absolute right to defend themselves, Community organizations shall be empowered to make citizen arrests when called for.

Punishment for crime will center on the criminal making restitution and acknowledging his wrongdoing, and once the debt to society and the victim is paid, that person will be afforded the opportunity to work and live in society.

Every young person will be in school or working. Not every person is going to be an academic success. There is so much work to be done on our infrastructure there is no sane reason anyone who wants to work has no work. WE need to prepare for the next hurricane Sandy. We need a Staten Island subway connection with the rest of the city. We need to repair our roads, bridges, tunnels, school buildings.

Diane Ravitch or a person of her choosing will be in charge of our schools. Our school system will be great again.

Civil Service will be reformed. Read this post to see what I mean.

I will support "living wage" legislation and regulation.

New York's wonderful anti discrimination laws will be enforced, up to and including imprisonment and the taking of unlawfully operated businesses and residential property.

We will have legalized casino gambling in New York City to rival Monte Carlo, not Atlantic City. Rich people will be encouraged to come here and gamble to their hearts' content. Minimum wagers and dress codes will prevent working and middle class people from wasting their money at the tables.

There will be zoned legalized prostitution, as rumor has it most of the high end strip clubs are fronts for this business anyway. No ault who is earning a living by way of selling sex will be prosecuted, persecuted, chased down or made into a cash cow for cops, judges, jailers, lawyers, etc. Public nuisances outside the zones will not be tolerated.

All forms of human trafficking will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This includes the practice of exploiting undocumented workers and children in all fields of business, not only the sex business.

We will roll back the bridge tolls within the city limits. New subway and express bus service to all parts of the city will be expanded and kept affordable.
