If #uber is in fact scamming its investors and the #taxiandlimousinecommission is running interference for #uber then the TLC would be aiding and abetting a scam. Ditto #hailo

Passengers review #Hailo #ehail.app and the news is.not good for #FredWilson, their main money man.

Passengers call #Hailo "terrible" "horrible" say "no cabs available" and complain of wrongful cancellation charges
Hype does not trump service. Hailo has got enough hype .to win an election but people want their taxis and not hot air.

Is the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission hiding Hailo and Uber statistics? It looks that way to me.
Back on August sixth the Taxi and Limousine Commission released the June numbers for its Hailo and Uber pilot program. Logically I would guess that the July numbers would have been releases around September sixth and the August numbers would be soon on their way. The June numbers looked pretty bad for Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures and the other big money backers of these useless app toys for bored little boys. I dont know what sort of CPR David Yassky's crew did on the numbers due last month but apparently these numbers are not yet ready for prime time. That's okay Dave you have until January when you say good bye to the TLC. How's the job search going?

No one listens but an editor at the Guardian online listens when a taxi driver tries to tell them some thing.(memo to Randy Credico)-
On August first the Guardian newspaper online published a piece I wrote but....
I one time took these people to 79th Street and Madison Avenue as per my repeated and confirmed understanding of the hotel doorman's instructions. I tried to confirm it with the passengers but they were having none of listening to the sounds emitted from a taxi driver. And so they also paid no attention to the places we were passing either. Well, their intended destination had been number 79 Madison Avenue, a quite different place. They had the nerve to ask me for a half off fare after ignoring my efforts to get it right the first time.
Now, I am trying to get someone who can be heard to understand the seriousness of the City Authorities pushing these ehail apps that cause taxi drivers to drive like morons, have probably hurt people already and sure as you are reading this will one day kill.
When I tried to tell Randy Credico about this he became enraged at me for wasting his time. Well I still think he is the best candidate for mayor. Like I say, when a taxi driver says.something people get arrogant and.obnoxious. I take that sort of shit in stride. It is part of being a taxi driver.

YOU have the right not to be mowed down on the sidewalks or knocked off your bikes by a taxi driver who is not focused on the streets but is fiddling with things like his Hailo or Uber driver app.
And there are too many people who ignorantly or selfishly hype these dangerous little toys like Fred Wilson Venture Capitalist and Daniel Gross tongue bath "journalist" at Newsweek / Daily Beast.
Read my piece in the Guardian.

Fighting the public safety threat posed by smartphone e hail apps like Hailo and Uber
I have made initial contacts with a few political offices ranging from Randy Credico to Andrew Cuomo to try to get these killer e hail apps off the streets of my city.
Memo to Fred Wilson Venture Capitalist about due diligence. regarding Hallo
I think you might have fallen into a trap.with Hailo, Mr. Wilson. The taxi business is not so simple that you can throw 30 million dollars on something that "sounds good to me" without real due diligence and I think you might have skipped that,
First of all you bought into the hype that Hailo is the current big thing in London and of course London cabbies have this great reputation so 23000 London cabbies can't be wrong, right? So we are told that there are 23000 Hailo London cabbies. Maybe, in consideration for discounts to restaurants and so forth. But Fred, do they actually use the app? Are there hard numbers about that? I read a Hailo aim that world wide Hailo Is used to create less than 9000 daily taxi rides. Even allowing that the 23000 paid off London cabbies got every last one of these fares that's roughly one per cabbie every three days, which is bupkis, Fred.
As for the New York launch, did you have a trusted aide get a hack license, go to Master Cabbie, or HANAC, or one of the Community Colleges and pass the test, then download the DRIVER APP? Then take Hailo.calls and report back to you? I sort of doubt that and now you need to consider how to get the money.back.
The Driver app.and the whole Hailo driver procedure are nightmarish accidents waiting to happen. And you're not in for a penny, are you Fred?
I intend to campaign hard against the app. Google Guardian Hailo and peruse this blog to see what sort of morsel you've bitten off.

Hailo has $30 million dollars they got from Union Square Ventures. Fred Wilson I think someone got played.
Hailo saya that only around 9000 taxi rides a day are Hailo rides worldwide. They claim 23000 London cabbies are with them. That might be because they gave out nice sign up premiums which were paid for by Fred Wilson, but putting the hype aside they don"t use Hailo much.
The New York Taxi and Limousine Commission just put out a report that looks really not good for Hailo. You can find itserve their priz at the NYT. Let's see if they piss away more of Friend's money on taxi drivers sign up prizes and passenger discounts before reality bites.
Hailo Is a bad accident waiting to happen. New York City taxi drivers deserve their prizes for risking their licenses for Hailo and Fred Wilson.

Hailo Is really full of hype and here is why I say that.

Hailo and Uber might kill you. I can't make it any clearer. Why I am at war with taxi e hail apps.#HailoandUbermightkillyou
Imagine a taxi piloted by an overtired driver who is feeding data into his Hailo or Uber app while he makes his way to his next call. The plan is to make this image the normal state of affairs on New York City streets. It is absolute madness on the part of the app developers and gross irresponsibility on the part of the mediatic cheerleading squad. As for the regulators who are greenlighting this bedlam it is beyond understanding. For certain they never looked at the driver app even though if they even looked at the passenger app they would know that passengers are calling drivers on the phone. Just what they imagine the driver is doing when his phone rings is beyond me. And the telephone calls are just a little part of what the driver is doing.

How Hailo and Uber facilitate taxi drivers who won't pick up black people. And what redress there is at hand right now.It starts with a call to 311
UMy anecdotal observations could be wrong but I doubt the problem is as endemic as it was 33 years ago when I was starting out in taxi driving, bit ,,"not as bad" doesn't mean "good",
A couple of commenters responding to my "Comment is free" article implied that I don't care about this and that somehow these apps present a solution or at least a remediation. Well, if anything the opposite is true
In preparation for the greasing of the Hailo / Uber skids the city fathers got rid of the "Off Duty" light and enable drivers to turn off their roof lights so as not to inflame arm hailers who are being passed up for app hailers.
This leads to all sorts of possible stunts, such as turning off the roof light when approaching a black person who is trying to get a cab. The drivers has gone stealth, appearing to the world to have a passenger.
Because the Hailo/Uber driver gets to rate the passengers some will be noted as not desirable and won't be paired with the downrater again. It isn't hard to see where this leads.
Now I don't have the magic bullet but I do know that if a passenger takes the simple steps there is going to be one unhappy cabbie.
I could go.on and on but I think I've covered this point. Iwill only add that I don't know any drivers who have been taken to TLC court by passengers and a very small number are. This suggests tome that the problem may be more prevalent in the minds of limousine liberals than it is on the streets.
YOU HAVE A RIGHT NOT TO BE MOWED DOWN ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK CITY BY.TAXI DRIVERS WHO ARE NOT.FOCUSED ON THE STREETS BUT ARE FIDDLING WITH HAILO AND UBER APPS

inside the tiny cramped mind of a taxi driver who likes hailo, and the moderators at the Guardian Comment Is Free put an uppity taxi driver in his place.
A fellow at my garage approached me and asked me about hailo. He recalled that not so long ago I bought a smartphone in order to work with Hailo. He was a bit surprised to hear me say that Hailo is really really no good and that in fact I have been campaigning against them.
He told me that his friend another guy who works at our garage likes Hailo.
The three of us had a short chat. the guy who likes Hailo who I will call Myron said that Hailo was great because he once got an airport job from them.
Yes it is true he said that passengers call drivers while the driver is driving but that that does not happen so often.
I asked Myron if he uses zHailo when the streets are busy and flush with people who are looking for taxi. He looked at me as though I'm crazy wrinkled his face and said loudly No!
I asked him a few more questions. The answer that might impress 5you the most, that is to say the answer Myron gave me, was that at the end of a ride having to input the fare and tip is not a problem because in his words "I just press $3". I asked him if he knew that Hailo is emailing receipts to his passengers for $3 regardless of what they actually gave him. He told me that if the passenger wants the receipt he could give him one and so the receipt that Hailo emails to the passenger is a business document that has false information. since no taxi ride in New York has been as cheap as that since before Flip was Geraldine some sticklers for detail may suspect fraudulent intent. possibly a passengers' accountant might look at that receipt and say what the f*** is this?
Myron said that no one could put in all of those numbers correctly then award the passenger the right amount of stars all the time to indicate the drivers' feelings about him or her, so he, (Myron just taps any number and any star.)
It so happens that I was accused on the Guardian forum about my anti Hailo article that appeared in The Guardian,s Comment is free feature of racism of not caring if black people cannot get taxis. I would like to point out that anti black Hailo drivers can and probably are down rating black passengers which could make it less likely the next time they seek a ride from Hailo that a driver would accept the ride. Down rated passengers are lower priority to even get a Hailo taxi. My self defense efforts were apparently blocked by the Comment is free moderators, as to leave the impression that I was left speechless or did not care. Now some of my blocked comments were strong. I was responding to rude remarks about me. But I guess even in a forum about the the article I wrote it was expected I would take rudeness and not give it back, me being a menial and all. As one unmoderated comment even called me a rude taxi driver

Daniel Gross of Newsweek Daily Beast I will not permit you to get away with that tongue bath you gave to Hailo
Because the Hailo driver app constitutes a lawless threat to the people of New York City. You were irresponsible in making yourself a part of the developers' PR steamroller. You could still do a mitzvah and help to heal the world.
what you decide to do about this one could be a life and death matter to people who have never met you and never did you any harm.
